Cloud based tools

Browsing around the web and came across three entertaining cloud based tools and two cloud based tools that can be used for business purposes

·         Facebook
o   Facebook is a free online social networking site that gives you the ability to upload and manage pictures, upload pictures, video, or just share you’re thought to the Facebook servers and share them with either your friends that you have chosen or with everyone (not recommended).
·         Aviary.com
o   Aviary.com is a powerful cloud based to that can edit your pictures, videos, make pictures, takes snapshots of your screen, edit your music, or create and edit your own music, or blend both existing music and music you created and make it one.   You have to try this app, it’s very addicting.
·         Cutmp3.net
o   Cutmp3.net is pretty neat and self-explanatory.  You can upload an mp3 and basically crop it how you want to.  You can even use it to create ringtones from existing music, just don’t expect any more from this tool than that.
·         Mint.com
o   For either home or small business owner, Mint.com is a great way to manage your finances.  By just creating an account with them, you can connect mint to your bank accounts, credit card accounts, loans and investment accounts and organizes it and keeps track of your transactions and expenses.  It can also help you budget and gives you tips on how to save money.
·         Diagram.ly
o   Need to make a diagram for your meeting and do not have or refuse do download any software whether free or not or just do not want to go through the hassle of using a word processor, you could use Diagram.ly.  Create trees or hierarchies, etc. as you need with preloaded picture ready to go.  With to look and feel of Microsoft Office 2007 using a ribbon at the top with the ability to change font size and color and other features, it should not be hard to use.

This one is my favorite that I want to share with you: Aviary.com

Acer Iconia Tab A500

I can leave talking about Tabs/Slates alone, they are just to interesting.  I was surfing around cnet.com and came across the Acer Iconia Tab A500.  I'm not a big fan of Acer because it is not a well known product to me but this new slate seems rather impress.  Like all the new Slates that are coming out (besides the Ipad 2), it is running the new Android 3.0 Honeycomb.  It also has the NIVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor and using a low powered NVIDIA GeForce GPU for your gaming experience.  You already know that it comes with HDMI ports and supports Flash 10.1.  It is just as great as the Xoom but there is one great thing about the Iconia that it has over most of the competition, the price.  Cnet is pricing it around $450; that is easier on the pocket if you want a good Slate without paying great Slate prices.  I believe with this new Slate on the market, Acer could make me fork over some money to buy into their unfamiliar bran.

Remote Access Using Ipad

This is pretty interesting.  I have come across a few apps to use remote access to connect to your desktop or laptop with your Ipad without having to take you laptop with you.  The first one is jump desktop which looks like it works pretty good.  The next one is desktop connect that moves a little smoother than jump desktop.  The last one I checked out would be remote desktop lite straight from Apple.  The best about this app is that it can also be use with the Iphone as well.  All of these apps aren't just view a file here and there, this is full access, ability to see your desktop from anywhere with an Internet connection type deal.  Now from you Ipad, you can use flash to play games and watch Hulu without the price tag.

Nanoparticles could be used to combat fatal bacteria

Reading news from cnet.com and there is an article about Nano-particles that can be used to MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus).  What the Nano-particles would do is rip open cell wall and membranes of bacteria using electrostatic interaction which the north pole from the Nano-particles meets the south pole of the bacterium and goes after the microbe's charge.  A fluid system will disrupt the membrane and tear it open.  The strange thing about this is that IBM research is behind the with the help of its Singapore partners.  Other application are being thought of as well being used in deodorants, mouthwash, bandages, and catheters.

Samsung Series 9

I just discovered the new laptop from Samsung, the Samsung Series 9.  Finally a Windows laptop that will compete with the Mac Airbooks.  Almost as thin as the Macs,  it's packing a second generation Intel i5 processor, running full Windows 7 Premium 64 bit.  The Series 9 also has 4 Gigs of  RAM, 128 GB solid state hard drive, Intel HD graphics card, 13 inch LED screen and only weighs under 3 pounds.  Unless your rich, have a trust fund, or just have money to blow, just know the Series 9 is quoted at 1599.99 and also 1649.99.

ASUS EEE Slate

I know that I have been going on about Tablet like the IPad, the Xoom, and the Galaxy Tab; yeah I know I need a new topic, but I just got an new ASUS laptop running an i5 processor, and turbo charge...that's what I talking about, but enough about that.  I am starting to become a fan of ASUS and I thought about the Slate/ Tablet PC they just put out in January.  ASUS's device is already using an i5 processor clocked at 1.3 Ghz with 4 GB of RAM.  It comes with either 32 GB of storage or 64 GB all solid state drives, which helps give it its speed.  Its also like other Tabs like Xoom with cameras and the latest flash playbacks.  The down side to this device (well not really a down side depending the way you look at it) would be battery life, which is up to 3.5 hours, and its not cheap beginning at $1,099, which now Amazon has it over $900.  My opinion, if you are look for a Tablet PC, which is half laptop, then the price is right, and the cheapest Tablet PC I've see.  On the other hand, with 10 hours of battery life, still with all the bells and whistles, stick with Xoom or IPad.

Motorola Xoom

I know that I talked a little about the Xoom in one of my previous post, and I had very bad feelings about it.  Now that it is out, I'm pretty impressed.  It's sporting a 1 GHz processor with 32 GB of space, just as much as the IPad 4 that can get up to 64 GB with the same processor power.  Battery life is about the same with IPad 4 winning at 25 hours and Xoom having 24.5 hours; I guess its about the same.  Even size and weight are about the same (just down to millimeters).  What makes it different from IPad 4 would be have a webcam and a camera on the back, expandable storage space, HDMI out, USB 2.0 inputs, and flash ready, so you can get the full experience of web browsing than on the IPad 4.  I know that IPad 5 should be coming out soon, so I hope Apple is well prepared to come back swinging.
